Cardio-Oncology

Cardio-oncology is another term to describe the efforts to prevent or treat patients with a tumor who are facing heart issues caused by cancer medicines. It is the intersection of heart conditions in patients who have been treated for cancer. Cancer patients are exposed to cardiovascular morbidity and mortality more than ever before. Anticancer therapies can cause significant injury to the vasculature, resulting in:

  • Acute coronary syndromes (ACS)
  • Critical limb ischemia
  • Angina
  • Arrhythmias
  • Acute thrombotic events
